Recently, members of our Boston MedFlight team attended the Air Medical Transport Conference (AMTC), one of the premier gatherings for air medical and critical care transport professionals. The event brought together leaders from across the industry to share ideas, celebrate excellence, and continue advancing the quality of care we provide to patients every day.

We were proud to have several team members featured throughout the conference. Dr. Susan Wilcox, Michael Frakes, Matt James, and I all delivered thoughtful, engaging presentations that showcased our organization’s expertise, innovation, and commitment to patient care. I also participated in an AAMS-led roundtable on mental health and leadership, underscoring the importance of wellness and resilience among those who serve in high-stress environments.
This year’s AMTC was especially memorable for Boston MedFlight. Dr. Susan Wilcox was recognized as Medical Director of the Year, Michael Frakes received the Katz-Mason Award for Transport Nursing Excellence, and our organization proudly took home the prestigious Program of the Year Award.

In addition, I was honored to be recognized alongside my colleagues Robert O’Donnell, Jamie Eastman, Widmac Laterion, and Vahe Ender as part of the AAMS 40 Under 40 Award, celebrating our leadership and dedication to advancing the field.
Throughout the conference, the emphasis on mental health and wellness continued to resonate — not only in formal presentations, but in the conversations and networking moments that reaffirmed how vital it is to care for ourselves as passionately as we care for our patients.
Beyond the sessions, our colleagues connected with peers from across the country during engaging after-hours events, including Airbus’ recognition of Boston MedFlight’s 40th anniversary and the celebratory team dinner at Blatt Beer & Table. These moments of collaboration and camaraderie reflected the spirit that defines Boston MedFlight — a team grounded in compassion, excellence, and an unwavering commitment to those we serve.
