First Responders
Trusted Partners. Shared Mission.
When you’re on scene, every decision matters—and when you call Boston MedFlight, you’re not just requesting transport. You’re bringing in a critical care team that works alongside you to protect the patient, support your crew, and continue the life-saving care you’ve already begun.
We know the demands you face on the ground because we’ve stood beside you in parking lots, fields, highways, and rooftops. Whether it’s a complex trauma, a pediatric emergency, or a remote response, we’re here to help you make the best call for your patient—and back you up when every second counts.
When to Call Boston MedFlight
While most of our transports are hospital-to-hospital, we respond to hundreds of scene calls each year in partnership with EMS, fire, and law enforcement agencies across the region. We’re available 24/7 to respond when:
- The patient requires advanced critical care interventions not available in the field
- Distance or traffic makes helicopter transport the fastest way to definitive care
- The patient needs to reach a trauma center, burn center, pediatric hospital, or other specialty care
- A safe and appropriate landing zone can be secured in coordination with your crew
To request a transport, call our Communications Center.
What You Can Expect on Scene
When Boston MedFlight arrives, we’re not there to take over—we’re there to team up. Our crews work shoulder to shoulder with yours to transfer care quickly, communicate clearly, and put the patient first.
Each flight crew includes a critical care nurse and paramedic, both trained in advanced trauma care, airway management, pediatric emergencies, and critical interventions. Our aircraft are equipped as mobile ICUs, carrying the tools, surgical capabilities, and onboard blood products—including packed red blood cells and plasma—needed to stabilize even the most complex patients.
We stay in contact with your team and scene command throughout the response, operating under strict safety protocols and coordinating every step—from landing zone setup to hospital handoff.

Supporting Your Resources: Our Equipment Return Program
After a patient is transported and cared for, equipment often gets set aside in a hospital storage area or worse, thrown away. Replacing that gear can be costly, especially for fire departments and EMS agencies already managing limited resources. Boston MedFlight’s Equipment Return Program helps ensure valuable items don’t go missing. We retrieve, clean, and return equipment left at receiving facilities—whether it belongs to us or to our partners in the field.

Training Together. Learning Together.
We value every opportunity to work alongside first responders, not just in emergencies, but in preparation. That’s why we offer education and training opportunities for EMS and fire departments, including:
- CE-approved educational offerings led by our experienced clinicians in your facility or ours
- Ride-alongs and case reviews
- Landing zone safety and coordination
