National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP) registry event
June 4 @ 10:00 am – 4:00 pm
Join Boston MedFlight & NMDP to Help Save Lives
Boston MedFlight is proud to partner with NMDP (formerly Be The Match) to host a blood stem cell donor registry recruitment event at our Bedford headquarters. This event offers an opportunity to learn how a simple cheek swab could one day help save the life of a patient battling blood cancers or other serious disorders.
Most patients in need of a blood stem cell transplant do not have a fully matched donor within their family and depend on organizations like NMDP to help find an unrelated donor match. By joining the registry, you could become the life-saving match someone is waiting for.

What to Expect
Representatives from NMDP will be onsite throughout the day to answer questions about the registry, explain the donation process, and help eligible participants complete a quick cheek swab registration.
Joining the registry is simple:
- Register and answer a few eligibility questions
- Complete a cheek swab
- Stay committed in case you are identified as a potential match for a patient in need
Most donations are completed through a non-surgical outpatient process similar to donating plasma or platelets, with donors typically returning to normal activities within a day or two.
NMDP especially encourages registry participation from individuals ages 18–35, as younger donors are associated with more successful transplant outcomes.
Why It Matters
At Boston MedFlight, we witness firsthand the importance of timely access to advanced medical care and life-saving treatments. Supporting the NMDP Registry aligns closely with our mission to help patients access the critical care they need when every moment matters.
Whether you stop by for a few minutes or attend the Lunch & Learn session, we hope you’ll consider taking part in this important effort to help save lives together.
