Air Transport
Pioneers In Critical Care Air Transport
Boston MedFlight has been a leader in critical care air transport for over four decades, since our founding in 1985. We were among the first to recognize the need for ICU-level care in the skies—and we’ve never stopped innovating. Today, our air operations are built on state-of-the-art aircraft, unmatched clinical expertise, aviation safety, and a commitment to delivering the highest level of care, anywhere.

A FAA-approved Part 135 Air Carrier
Boston MedFlight operates under FAA Part 135 air carrier certificate, which governs on-demand air medical operations with the highest standards for safety, training, and compliance. And unlike most air ambulance programs, we operate in both visual and instrument flight conditions. This designation allows us to:
- Directly operate our aircraft under strict federal aviation oversight
- Maintain full operational control of our fleet
- Ensure consistent, high-quality performance and risk management
- Uphold flight operations and maintenance procedures to airline-level quality standards
As a Part 135 certificate holder, we own and oversee every detail of our aviation program—because nothing less is acceptable when lives are on the line.
Our Helicopter Fleet: Standardized, Advanced, Ready
We operate a fully standardized fleet of Airbus H145 helicopters, chosen for their safety, performance, reliability, and versatility. With uniform interiors and identical equipment layouts, every aircraft is optimized for rapid response and seamless crew performance. Strategically positioned at all five of our base locations for rapid response region wide.

Behind Every Flight: Our Maintenance Team
Every transport is also made possible by the expertise of our in-house maintenance team—including factory-trained aviation maintenance technicians (AMTs), managers, and parts specialists—who work around the clock to keep our helicopters mission-ready 24/7.
From routine maintenance to complex in-depth inspections , this team handles it all in-house. They use advanced technology to log flight hours, troubleshoot discrepancies, and track inspection schedules in real time—ensuring nothing gets missed.
Their planning, adaptability, and technical precision make them a critical part of our safety and reliability.

The Gold Standard in Air Medical Transport
Whether by helicopter or jet, Boston MedFlight’s air operations represent the highest level of clinical care, operational excellence, and aviation safety. We’ve built this program not just to meet the needs of today but to shape the future of critical care air transport.
